Additions Over the Years

The first version of Photoshop was created in 1987 and soon after was given to the public on May 7, 1990. It was released for Macintosh computers only at first. However, after a few months, the first Photoshop for Windows was released. Photoshop CS went through a variety of version changes with many subtle additions and subtractions.

Photoshop CS5.1 contains all of the features available for professional designers and artists. Many people believe that Photoshop CS5 is the best version of Photoshop and the version with the most change.

Many people believe that Photoshop has revolutionized the world of image creation and manipulation. Some believe that Photoshop’s ability to edit, retouch, and resize an image is the best in the history of photo editing. Some believe that Photoshop is a necessary app for people in the field of graphic design.

To make things even more interesting, Adobe also created Lightroom, another program that allows for picture editing, among other things. Lightroom’s market share has stayed flat compared to Photoshop.

In 2008, Photoshop CS5 (and all previous versions, since CS5) was updated to Photoshop CS6. Adobe took some of the features used in other programs and made them available with Photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop CS6 comes with many features that should make working with images easier and more efficient. Of course, this comes with a price, meaning that it can be expensive for professionals. If you’re a hobbyist, you can download the free trial or demo version, which includes some basic features.

The Photoshop list includes a few features that make a difference in the way you work with images.

Layers in Photoshop

Layers are the core and foundation of Photoshop. They are used to isolate parts of an image. You can view or hide, move, and delete layers. You can create, merge, and group layers.

If you are a beginner, it is recommended to play around with a couple of images until you grasp the concept of layers. Layers allow you to isolate parts of an image. This allows you to create a new layer, edit the image on one layer, and then make modifications to that layer. The image on the other layers remain unchanged.

Adobe Photoshop CS6

Adobe Photoshop CS6 adds some new features, as well. It has a new features called Content-Aware Move & Resize. The new tool lets you make selective edits to an image.

How to get rid of duplicate files

Adobe Photoshop: Reduce the size of photos

You can easily reduce the size of large images, by adjusting the ratio and changing the compression ratio.

You can also use Photoshop to reduce the size of an image without losing quality:

1. Duplicate the image

Open the original image and duplicate it (Ctrl + J)

Go back to the original image and delete all images that are duplicates (Ctrl + E)

Close the original image and change the name of the new image (Ctrl + N)

Apply the same modifications as you did with the original file

To reduce the size of an image, choose the original image, then, from the File menu, choose Image > Reduce Size.

2. Resize the photo

Go to Image > Canvas Size and change the Aspect Ratio

Choose the horizontal width and keep the height

Adjust the ratio. By default, this ratio is 4:3. If you change it to 16:9, you will obtain a photo of a larger size but with a shorter width, with more horizontal space available, more for the eye to breathe. If you want to enlarge the photo, you can set a 16:9 ratio and resize the image as many times as you want.

The advantage of this method is that you will not lose quality:

3. Merge objects

Go to Object > Combine

Select all the objects in the photo that you want to combine (Ctrl + A)

Select all the objects in the photo you want to use as background

Go back to Object > Expand

Add a black background

Object > Expand (right click) to add an outline to everything

Select the outlines that you do not want (Ctrl + E)

Select everything (Shift + E)

Choose Remove Outline

Remove the black background (Delete, X)

With the black background object selected, go to Object > Transform > Warp.

Choose the Transform panel (Upper left corner).

Select the Distort tab and make the following settings (right click).

Then save the picture and close the panel.

Before we get to the selection of synopses and award-winning screenplays for this week’s reading, there’s a quick update on the sometimes back-and-forth relationship between iTunes and Amazon. For the past couple of weeks, whenever I wanted to buy a book on my Apple device, it offered me the option of buying through Amazon as well, making Amazon the pre-selected retailer for my purchases. Not so this week.

Amazon says: “U.S. residents can now access all the books on their Kindle app at the convenience of iTunes.”

iTunes says: “If you have an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS 6.1 or later, you can download or purchase Kindle books on your device.”

So if you want to buy a Kindle book on your Apple device, you’ll have to do so through Amazon. Sorry, Kindle people. Amazon stole the Kindle bookstore from you on the Apple platform.

Anyway, onto last week’s selections.

Shoot for the Moon: “Best-selling author Cheryl Strayed, who climbed the Pacific Crest Trail alone in 2012, wrote her first book about her journey. It’s a poignant and raw memoir that took Strayed nine years to complete. In recalling the emotional and physical challenges of the journey, she shows us what happens when we are honest with ourselves and fearless in the face of fear.”

I’m in Love with Losing You: “Rereading short-story author and novelist Nell Zink’s story about the relationship between her sickly mother and her younger sister, this book follows a grieving mother on a journey of self-discovery. It’s a beautiful story of sisterhood and losing the things we love.”

The Thin Man: “Made into a film in 1934 and directed by W. S. Van Dyke, this crime-solving film stars William Powell as Nick and Myrna Loy as Nora. They receive an anonymous letter telling them to search for a diamond—the one true thing in the world that makes everyone else feel less important. When they do just that, they quickly realize it’s just a ploy to teach Nick a lesson. Eventually, Nick figures out who’s doing the teaching, however

MongoDB Simple Update

I am trying to update a document with a simple string update of the lastseen property. The document has the following structure
“_id” : ObjectId(“565fbb55b93a0327ccc961a6”),
“host” : “”,
“data” : “foo”,
“lastseen” : ISODate(“2013-07-23T20:18:57.595Z”),
“created” : ISODate(“2013-07-23T20:18:57.596Z”),
“score” : 4

I am trying to update the lastseen property with a string “foo” but I am getting this error.
db.restaurants.update({“host”: “”}, {“$set” : {“lastseen”: “foo”}})

Update failed:

var var1 = || “test”;
db.restaurants.update({“host”: “”}, {“$set” : {“lastseen”: var1}})

var var2 = req.body.lastseen || “test2”;
db.restaurants.update({“host”: “”}, {“$set” : {“lastseen”: var2}})

According to the update command’s documentation, $set only updates the value of the property that was specified in the second parameter.
So, your first parameter is host. You probably meant to update the data property:
db.restaurants.update({“host”: “”}, {“$set” : {“data”: var1}})

From the comments, it seems that you want to update the lastseen property of all documents matching your query. This can be achieved by using the positional $ operator:
db.restaurants.update({“host”: “”}, {“$set”: {“lastseen”: “foo”}})

{“host”: “”},
{“$set”: {“lastseen”: “foo”}},
